Morning world, not sure what happened, but thats the lowest for a while; 975 thousand points uploaded
There are a few long runners, so it's probably down to that.

Up at the crack of sparrow fart this morning, after a great nights sleep.
had a busy evening attempting to hang a door in the bathroom, what a nightmare
that turned out to be, made a complete balls up of the brackets and the door was
scraping along the floor, so I made a few adjustments and found that it was catching
on the top of the frame and wouldn't close. I got there in the end though - 3 hours later!!

I guess I could have got someone in to do the work, but the money it would have cost could
get me a couple of sticks of ram, so I bodged it myself :P

Work has been a complete nightmare, a repeat of Mondays performance, I'm glad today is
my last day for the week, nice loooooong weekend :D

My youngest has been surprisingly quiet - She had her 5 in 1 + 2 in 1 inocculations yesterday,
we were both expecting her to be up all night wingeing (like our eldest did), but not a murmer,
put her down to sleep at 9pm, and she's slept right through, it's now a little after 5, and she
is away with the fairies  Bless her.

Anyway, a few great dumps coming in, lets hope for a better one tomorrow...

Congrats to all, have a great day :D

POSITIVE QUOTE OF THE DAY
-----------------------------

Most of us miss out on life's big prizes. The Pulitzer. The Nobel.
Oscars. Tonys. Emmys. But we're all eligible for life's small
pleasures. A pat on the back. A kiss behind the ear. A four-pound
bass. A full moon. An empty parking space. A crackling fire. A great
meal. A glorious sunset. Hot soup. Cold beer.

Hey guys, how the hell do you get rid of an unwanted node... yet the unwanted node is anotehr node on the same PC? I set Think to run 1 copy, but the damn thing keeps loading a second instance to run jobs, my main rig is Shaz, the other one is Shaz-1, I keep holding & releasing the damn thing, & reallocating the job to Shaz, yet I hide the queue server then reopen it, it reallocates to the unwanted node? My bro's PC was Shaz-1 at one time as it was set up as a client, but it hasn't been on since end of october beginning of november? Its really psiing me off, & not sure if its the reason my PC has been so sluggish in the past 24 hours since it showed up?

Oh yeah, after getting rid of the HP system when I give it to my bro & his wife, I may have another little rig to join my herd, I should be getting that HP ePC C10 by the end of the week, hopefully I can fix whatever the problem is with it & stuff a nice PIII in it, might try to see if my 850 will work in it? If not, then It will have to be used for my future Mini ITX project.

edit: also it seems I may be able to get the flashy 64bit upgrade to my main rig after all, I'll be buying a Antec SP10W-AMG side window from a guy over at [H]ard OCP, that will work on my Antec Plus 1080AMG case.

Which means I may go for the Socket 754 nForce 3 based DFI Lanparty board after all, will save myself a bit in cash this way (last time I checked it was going for $98 on some sites), & even though a 939 board may be better for upgrades down road, the 754 board will still hold me over for quite some time. Also this way I won't need to get a new Case & PSU, & can use the saved cash for a better CPU or a nice CPU HSF instead.

Can't you just put the jod on hold. Then click Remove.
Nice day of crunching Team.
Thank's Win2K
Congrats, S, M & D.....:)
Well back to the doctor's today so he can check my ankle. It doesn't feel any better than it did last week when I seen him...:( Told Rea she might need to take me out back and shoot me soon...:bunny:

B T W This weeks Lotto numbers are 100 thur 300. So if you picked 000 thur 099 go back and fix them.
Come on Team it's a 100 bucks or a motherboard, CPU combo. Let see some numbers from everyone.
We are doing this for team spirit and it wouldn't hurt to pick up a few new crunchers....... :bunny:
So spread the word.

The midnight update skipped adding new jobs  so that's why the numbers seem low, (it was a repeat of the 18:00 update)

Great work for 18 hours tho :D

Shyguy:
Completely stop Think, then go into the FaD folder (c:\program files\find-a-drug\) and look for a file called Shaz-1.tlg and delete it.

Restart Think, and it should no longer allocate to that node.

OK, I'll do that too. Roadtechs Idea seems to have worked for now. BUt I'll try that too to be on safe side.

Thanks to both of you!!!:)

w2k's way is the 'official' correct way to, ie. stop the client, then delete the appropriate tlg file. otherwise the client will allocate a job the next time fad is restarted. the allocated job in progress will probably need to be reassigned afterwards.

gotta go to a lunch meeting, so my time's short.

keep pluggin' away, everyone!

Well It worked, main rig kept one instance going & finished the one old job, plus 3 others it queued as a result of the issue.

Thanks Guys!!!!:)

That HP ePC C10 barebone should be on its way today or tommorrow, will be nice to see how small that bugger is in person, let alone trying to get it to run right. But if it don't work, I got other plans for it, not a bad deal for $15 "AS IS" Shipped... even if all I use is the case.

Lernin' is a good thing... :P

Very busy week for me. It's Friday arvo at work, and things are slowing down, so that's good. :)

My dual duallie project has hit some snags. One is my PIII Tualatins aren't SMP capable. :( So looks like it'll be a single CPU system for a bit, unless I can find a couple of SMP capable Tualatins, which are like hen's teeth, apparently. Saw a pair of PIII Tualatin 1.4GHz's on eBay for like AUD$500!! I'd be better off building two Athlon XP systems for that price.

My Athlon duallie is gonna use XP 2000+'s that I'll have to mod, as MP 2400's are pretty hard to get as well now, and still not cheap. So I've ordered some XP 2000+'s from the last place that has any stock (direct from AMD local warehouse), but can't guarantee same stepping. Oh, well, should still work even if they ain't. Then I'll do the XP to MP mod thing (single L5 bridge). ;)

My FAD herd is crunching on through some long runners. Very few points in it though, but at least they are lookin' for cures!! :D

Congrats to all who need congrattin', hope roadtech's ankle improves, and good luck with the lotto everyone! :)

Keep 'em crunchin'!! :d

Cheers
Mick

I have 2200's modded, they are workin great, only shitdowns have been power related, otherwise, been rock steady, even without ECC or Reg. memory. (using PC2700 in it)

Have fun, I run Suse on mine, but I did try Windows 2000 for a little bit :D

What mobo they in, WoO? I have a Tyan S2460, which I believe MUST have ECC in order to boot. The Tualatin dual mobo is a Tyan 2505T, which can use plain ol' unbuffered RAM no worries. :)

what do you mean your tualatins are not SMP capable? i thought they all were...

>I have a Tyan S2460, which I believe MUST have ECC in order to boot

the later tyan MP mobo the s2466 i think is the model (check the site) allows 2 gb of standard non-reg ram. but you are correctm the 2460 does req reg. ecc ram.

gotta get some shuteye...early meeting tomorrow. :(

So did I, but when I did some checking that is not the case. :( The 256kb cache ones on a 0.13micron die aren't, apparently. I haven't tested 'em (just got the other one today), but according to Intel's specs page for duals (http://support.intel.com/support/processors/sb/CS-007878.htm), that's the case. Note: Pentium III processors based with 256 KB cache and using .13µ process technology do not support dual processor. Pentium III processors with 512 KB cache and using .13µ process technology do support dual processing.

Ah, well, looks like another 1.13GHz upgrade for an older Socket 370 system (using a Tualatin slocket adapter ;) ).

Mick Hey Mick --

The store in town has 6 of the 1.1GHz Celery's (tultn) retail box.

They said I can have as many of them as I want for $40 ea. :P (I have 1 extra adapter, so I'm hopin' ta' pick one up a week from Sat.! :D)

Celeries definitely aren't SMP compatible, not matter what size LI cache. :P The Tualatin Celeries are good crunchers, though, and get reasonable CPU ratings in FAD: I've got 2 Celery 1.4GHz Tualatin's runnin' that crunch good and give scores areound the 120's.

Mick The one I'm running right now (1.1GHz) is OC'ed to 1.32GHz and is pulling a consistant 116. :D

all my p3's are .13 and 256mb cache and they run smp fine. from my recollection, all the p3 socket 370 cpus are similar to each other w/ perhaps9?) the exception of the last celeron steppings.

i would just pop them and and see if the system recognizes it.

Nope. Sees only 1 CPU. :( At least in the BIOS. It does boot, but only one CPU is listed. Didn't load an OS and check, though, but I would say if it's not detected by the BIOS.... :(

Single CPU runs fine, though. ;)

and this is a known good mobo w/a working cpu#2 socket?...

mickwish
12-10-2004, 5:43 PM
It's a brand new mobo (never been used, still sealed), and the CPU is brand new too. Haven't tried the CPU in another system yet, but these PIII's are pretty good, normally. I haven't got any 512kb L1 cache ones to try with, though. :(

I've now seen quite a few sites that all say the same thing: 256kb cache PIII Tualatin's on a 0.13micron die are not SMP compatible. I might load an OS and see if it sees both CPU's, but I really doubt it, unfortunately.

Anyone got 2 x PIII Tualatin CPU's wioth 512kb L1 cache going cheap? :P

Cheers
Mick
