I am running 4 rigs at home right now 24/7 but I was wondering if it was worth it to put FAD on my 2 boys computers at their home as they only turn on the computers as they play on them. [Could be a few hrs a night] ???
1.5 P4 and 800 Duron

Now if I could talk my boss on running it at work- that would be kool, but I dont want to screw with company computers [even though I look after them]

Everything is good, cyclone2! I only run wireless lappies, which are never on 24/7 these days!

Congrats on winning Kev and Rea's Contest, BTW!

Part-time machines are cool. Both my kids run FAD when their bedroom PC's are on.

Now, if you wanna get efficient use of part-time machines (note: you don't have to do this, it's just a geek-efficiency thing I do... :P ), you could set the part-time PC's up as clients on a FAD server (one of the other PC's that's on 24/7), so you can "rotate" jobs so the part-time PC's don't take months to finish a single job. That way, they crunch when they are on and connected into the LAN, but the jobs they do can be completed by the full-time crunchers so they get finished timely-like.

As I said, it doesn't HAVE to work like that, but it would be efficient. :D

So, what's stopping you: get FAD on those kids' PC"S!! :D :D

Cheers

I would highly recommend you not run FAD on your childrens machines.:D :D :D ( cyclone being my nemesis in the stats points race) :)

seriously,tho,even tho i m FAD info challanged(basicly a newbster)
i see nothing wrong with installing it on the kids machines. just explain to them not to mess with the little blue icon in the lower right corner.

:) GIT `ER DONE!! :)

if you wanna hide Think from the kids so they can't damage anything, then thats pretty easy too ;)

Thanks for the replies :) I'm not totally up to speed with the way FAD works with uploads/queues etc
The boys used to run ECCP for me so they know about DC, also they are pretty good with not messing with their computers, after all dad looks after them :D
Sorry Draboo, 2 more coming online soon :P lol
