Bout dang time that silicon grew up, BitSpit! :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good days crunching ya all. 1.5+ million points is nothing to sneeze at considering we lost Lauren.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I am in the process of upgrading a cruncher to an A64 S939 system. Should pickup a few mHz ( I better! ) Gonna be a 3500+ on a MSI k8N Neo2 Platinum mobo with a Thermalright XP-90 cooler and either BH-5 based RAM or GSkill TCCD based RAM. The processor and mobo are here. The GSkill and OCZ DDR booster should be here Monday or Tuesday. I could build this weekend, but if I want to use the XP-90 I would have to redo the HS mounting to replace the stock one if I build before it gets here. Heh, maybe I'll do that and document it. I need the OCZ DDR booster to get the most out of the BH-5; it would be nice to get 270 or 275 mHZ at 1:1 with extremely tight timings. If I can do that, then I'll use the GSkill in the S754 system.

Seriously glad it is the weekend. I work at the Post Office and tensions are starting to mount...

Maybe it is time to get a Kevlar vest? :)

It is definitely stressful where I'm at. I am in, perhaps, the fastest growing Post Office in the US, and we are woefully understaffed. "More from less" << My a...hhh, butt!

I have been there a looonnnggg time and am heavily relied upon. However, morale is bad right now, and there is almost a mutinous spirit in the air. Much muttering of FTP! can be heard.

All in a days work, LOL!!! 14 Jobs & almost 5K in points in one day, between both rigs not bad, would have been 5+K, but one job uploaded after the cutoff!!!

Oh well, I'll have my bro's rig running for a few days while parents are down in texas, hopefully i can figure out why it kept stalling last time?

Quick CPU question guys? I know the Via C3 CPU's are less processor than a Celeron, but how much less? I am thinking of getting a 1GHz C3 based Mini ITX for some basic stuff (internet access for the Parental Units, & for using with Ventrillo, Teamspeak, etc when playing online), & was wondering about how would a 1GHz C3 compare to a P3 or P3 based Celly? If I get one I will use it to crunch FaD, but wondering just what to expect, may try to get a 1.3 or 1.4 GHz model if I can?

Ha, Almost sounds like the Retail store I work for, sometimes (Hint Big Red Bullseye), there's been days, Ive just about walked out on them, & Ive only been there for 2 years, don't know how one of the guys I met there, put up with their shananigans for 11 years, before He walked out on them a year ago?

Well, I won't comment on its' abilities in other areas, but the Via GigaPro ( 733 mHz ) I had rated a 5 in FaD. Personally I think they are utter junk.
A large dog's turd with ICs embedded in it might be better!

Just my 2 cents. :)

TGX: I can afford toys, just can't afford a wife or GF. Now they are truly expensive!

ALright, well, maybe won't use it for FaD then, just use it for what I need to use it for then. Thats if I get one.

I figured out whata causes it, it's not the stress of the season, It's that darn music, the same 12 songs redone 15 times, played constantly to "pick up your spirits and get you to buy more", it's like listening to a broken record... :)

good work everyone, and 1.5Mil is great :D

[blank] this place! ( curse word that begins with F )

ah, that would be **** then :)

The 'F' word is actually a very clever word;

Perhaps one of the most interesting and colorful words in the English language today is the word "****." It is the one magical word which, just by its sound, can describe pain, pleasure, love and hate. In language, "****" falls into many grammatical categories.

It can be used as a verb, both transitive (John ****ed Mary) and intransitive (Mary was ****ed by John). It can be an action verb (John really gives a ****), a passive verb (Mary really doesn't give a ****), an adverb (Mary is ****ing interested in John), or as a noun (Mary is a terrific ****). It can also be used as an adjective (Mary is ****ing beautiful) or an interjection (****! I'm late for my date with Mary). It can even be used as a conjunction (Mary is easy, **** she's also stupid).

As you can see, there are very few words with the overall versatility of the word "****". Aside from its sexual connotations, this incredible word can be used to describe many situations:

1. Greetings "How the **** are ya?"
2. Fraud "I got ****ed by the car dealer."
3. Resignation "Oh, **** it!"
4. Trouble "I guess I'm ****ed now."
5. Aggression "**** YOU!"
6. Disgust "**** me."
7. Confusion "What the ****.......?"
8. Difficulty "I don't understand this ****ing business!"
9. Despair "****ed again..."
10. Pleasure "I ****ing couldn't be happier."
11. Displeasure "What the **** is going on here?"
12. Lost "Where the **** are we."
13. Disbelief "UN****INGBELIEVABLE!"
14. Retaliation "Up your ****ing ***!"
15. Denial "I didn't ****ing do it."
16. Perplexity "I know **** all about it."
17. Apathy "Who really gives a ****, anyhow?"
18. Greetings "How the **** are ya?"
19. Suspicion "Who the **** are you?"
20. Panic "Let's get the **** out of here."
21. Directions "**** off."
22. Disbelief "How the **** did you do that?"

It can be used in an anatomical description- "He's a ****ing @sshole."
It can be used to tell time- "It's five ****ing thirty."
It can be used in business- "How did I wind up with this ****ing job?"
It can be maternal- "Mother****er."
It can be political- "**** D an Quayle!"

It has also been used by many notable people throughout history: "What the **** was that?" Mayor of Hiroshima
" Where did all these ****ing Indians come from?" General Custer
"Where the **** is all this water coming from?" Captain of the Titanic
"Thats not a real ****ing gun." John Lennon
"Who's gonna ****ing find out?" Richard Nixon

"Heads are going to ****ing roll." Anne Boleyn
"Let the ****ing woman drive." Commander of Space Shuttle "Challenger"
"What ****ing map?" Mark Thatcher
"Any ****ing idiot could understand that." Albert Einstein
"It does so ****ing look like her!" Picasso
"How the **** did you work that out?" Pythagoras
"You want what on the ****ing ceiling?" Michaelangelo
"**** a duck." Walt Disney
"Why?- Because its ****ing there!" Edmund Hilary
"I don't suppose its gonna ****ing rain?" Joan of Arc
"Scattered ****ing showers my ***." Noah

...and this is gonna ****ing **** the Mods off!
:D

I have been there a looonnnggg time and am heavily relied upon. However, morale is bad right now, and there is almost a mutinous spirit in the air. Much muttering of FTP! can be heard. Believe it or not, I KNOW what you are talking about. I used to work for the worlds smalled Distribution Center. I could give you hours and hours of (for lack of a better word) crap that went on there. We started with 39 people altogether. Before they said "NO more hires" I was next in line for Regular. That was 5 years before I quit. I never made regular. I was 21 out of 31 when I quit. They expected us, in a nutshell, to handle the same amount of mail, with less time, with 31 people total (including Windows clerks, 204bs, secretary's, etc.) that it would take 40 people to handle by hand. We did EVERYTHING manually. and every time we got machines in to help us (and supposed'ly remove jobs - which actually created jobs) we were that much worse off. We had one guy lose it and I'm glad I wasn't at work when he "went." and I'm glad he didn't bring his gun in to work that day. I met him the Sunday before he "went" and he was a bit edgy. He had gotten fired 3 times before this time - which there was no hope for him after that.

I can't vouch for a large installation, but I understand tensions growing high, people going postal, morale being something toilet paper wipes up, etc. Finally glad to hear the other day, the supervisor that I quit because of finally got busted and suspended !!!!! hehe.

New PSU installed, everyone is crunching again. For now.:rolleyes:

Hey Zippy, I just watched a documentary on Vegas this week. No doubt the mail system is taxed, seems like quite the boom town these days.
The show was mainly about how Lake Mead was too small to handle the population growth, and a well project that is underway under the lake.

went to the PO this morning to pick up my amazon order.....i had ordered a couple of paperbacks and the smallville season 3 dvd set.

when i picked up the dvd box, i heard a rattling inside...uh oh, not good i'm thinking! opened it up and found two dvds had been knocked loose from their holders. #2 was badly scratched...it either did not play or atter repeated attempts would play but had heavy stuttered pauses. the $10 i thought i 'saved' buying it mail order (instead of locallly thru best buy or j&r) doesn't amount to any savings after i go thru the rigmarole of getting it exchanged. :( that's the first & last time i order dvd sets in the mail.

spent the rest of the day building up some plywood shelving in the basement for book storage.

hope everyone's enjoying their weekend.

I didn't know you wre a Smallville fan PJ - I am too, and there's one big fan at TIMO and he d/ls every episode to his computer - F/A-18 MechDood.

I think though with the NY taxes that J&R can be a rip sometimes. They charge everything at MSRP and makes them more or less like BB, CompUSA, Circuit City, but lately J&R have been getting pretty good deals on the internet, so maybe it's changing.
