i purchased two 512 sticks of THIS (http://www.mushkin.com/epages/Mushkin.storefront/EN/Catalog/5403) a week or so ago.

i have a gigabyte ga7n400 mobo with a amd xp-m 2500@2100

this mobo would not recognize either or both sticks. no matter where i put em slot-wise,single stick i tried every slot(it has four) no booting would i get.

   i was beginning to fume thinking that both sticks were D.O.A.

well..tonite i tried em in rubyredzmachine. they work just dandy.

so now shes got the super duper ram that i wanted so badly,so i could O.C. this xp-m .

at least i could use her 256mb of 2100.:)

reason for this thread: is there any reason my machine would not post using this ram??

many thanx ,eh??

Could it be the overclock you had on the CPU was preventing it booting?? :o AFAIK that mobo should accept that RAM.

How were you o'clocked? FSB was how high?? What other components were in there, and had you overclocked them??

I ain't real sure, but maybe you should start with a normally clocked CPU, then try raising it from there. Just a thought. ;)

Cheers

I have have heard of a lot of motherboards not liking Mushkin ram, and refusing to recognize it.I would suggest getting yourself some good ocz, or Geil for overclocking. The Geil pc4000 works great for o.c.ing in the shuttle an35n's and you can mod the vdimm on the an35's for 3.3 volts, and the geil loves the extra juice.

Yeah OCZ is the best out there... One thing you might want to check also is an update for your BIOS...

My highest OC of fsb was: 11x250= 2.5Ghz
Best CPU OC was: 12x117= 2.6Ghz

The Rig:
Abit NF7-S v2.0
XP 2700+ (T'bred) vcore 2.1volts
OCZ Dual Channel PC4000 (board won't let me max this ram out) vdimm @ 1.8
Water Cooled @ 103f/39.5c
System stable for cruching but would crash while playing CS Source

Syn, since you say ocz is the best out there, I was wondering if you have ever used Geil? From what I have read on several o.c.ers boards, Geil is the better of the 2, and some people have had problems on some mobo's not liking the ocz. Just my 2 cents!! ;)
Just looked at your specs, you sure had to pour the coals to that xp2700 to get that much out of it.vCore at 2.1!Here's one for ya!

Shuttle an35n
xp1700 @ 2.3 gig with vCore at 1.7 volts with slk900 air cooling
Micron pc3200 @ 1.8 volts
