Roadkill

I just recieved an AMD Slot A 950 MHz Processor. At least, the edge says it's a 950.
When I installed it on my MicroStar MS6191 (w/ AMI BIOS) motherboard and turned it on, it showed as an 800 MHz processor.
I can find no jumpers on the board to set, nor can I find anyplace in the BIOS to set clock speed, so I assume it reads the processor automatically.
Is it possible that someone switched covers and put an 800 processor in a 950 case? Is there any way to open it up and check?
Or am I missing something simple?
Added note: The MicroStar site says the board will run 500 to 1000 MHz processors.
