I just recieved an AMD Slot A 950 MHz Processor. At least, the edge says it's a 950.

When I installed it on my MicroStar MS6191 (w/ AMI BIOS) motherboard and turned it on, it showed as an 800 MHz processor.

I can find no jumpers on the board to set, nor can I find anyplace in the BIOS to set clock speed, so I assume it reads the processor automatically.

Is it possible that someone switched covers and put an 800 processor in a 950 case? Is there any way to open it up and check?

Or am I missing something simple?

Added note: The MicroStar site says the board will run 500 to 1000 MHz processors.

its is possible your motherbaord doesn't support this processor. What a website says the mobo will run doesn't always mean it will run one that fast. I think the 950 slot 1's weren't the same core as the up to 800mhz ones?
it all depends one what multiplier the machine can go up to probably.

Roadkill, http://www.msicomputer.com/support/formviewer.asp?esoformid=1488

Hope that helps?

Also this too, http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=121&kind=1

Its possible you only have version 1.2 bios in it & not 1.6?

Thats it, I have the version 1.2 BIOS in it. Looks like I'll be doing a BIOS update real soon.

Thanks for the help, guys!
