Ahhh, Finally got a day off, so maybe I can work on that P3 Cruncher in the basement a bit today & get the bugs worked out of Win98 (or totally reinstall Win98SE on it instead) on the T-bird for my bros friend, running FaD on it over the next few weeks till he has the money for it. That is if Joint Operations new Expansion pak (JO: Escalation) doesn't consume my attention all day, came out a couple of weeks ago, but just got it Thurs or Fri last week, can't get enough of it, LOL!!!

But got another decent sized job a brew'n on the main rig also, should be done in another day or so, at 82% now & almost 7K in points, 569 Hits. The HP rig is on a similar job (HIV) 82% done 263 Hits & been running 2 hours longer than the main rig, so both have some nice jobs running.

welcome to the new cruncher in our midst. :)

earlier today, i got into a little mini-argument over at TIMO over a thread. it wasn't a particularly difficult technical question but the poster had nothing materially useful to say and generally made an a$$ of himself.

TIMO may be a large board with a lot of activity but it a lot to be said about the quality (maturity) of some of the posters who frequent there. the people here at XPC are a much better sort. yes, i admit it. :P

hmmm...the quote has too much of a socialist bent to it. :D

where is our Komrade TT when you really need him? :P

PJ, just looked around a bit over at TIMO (was bored so I look around there & a few other well known forums when I"m bored), let me guess the program/scripting "discussion"?

As for that PJ - I know what you mean, there's one particular person - but I shall not name names....

On the plus side - almost to 1 million points for me! I can feel it.

Yes indeed, this forum has a mature feel to it. Sensible answers are abundant here, and there is no spam - well not much... erm, well maybe a bit... well, ok quite a bit then :P :)

One of the things that attracts me to this forum is the mature clean lined clutter free style of the forum, and obviously the members etc. You can have fun, but at the same time you can read the text without having to dig through loads of stupid members sig pictures and dialogues etc that bloat the forum.

It's a mature forum for the young at heart crowd :D

I love it!!!

AYE!

I was just thinking about how we are still hitting the 1.4-1.6 million points mark every day, despite losing some big producers along the way. The number of members of this team that just continuosly plug away, even with their one and only computer is inspiring. That quote is perfect.

Aye, it is very fitting...

It could do with slightly re-wording though IMO to make it a bit more fitting with what we do - Any ideas anyone???

At least that way, I won't have to put the Author at the bottom, and I can just slide it in wherever I feel like it - ooh er

PJ,
i am having trouble imaging you getting into a "mini argument" with anyone. guess i had better go take a look at this. ;)

thankfully i am out again. the CBB* were getting irritating :D

AYE, here!! But don't change it - it's perfect. And Ms Keller may be annoyed if we do. :P

I know what you mean at TIMO, PJ. The wierd thing is that is where TT has gone to!! :o  :P

Cheers

Yeah, I can do that, but what did I do this time?? :D:D

I just got in after a reasonable day's work!

It started off at home this morning, the light bulb in the hall had blown again, 3rd one in 2 weeks, so I figured the fitting was ready for changing. Did that, then I thought since the power is off, I might as well take out the old shaver / light socket in the bathroom.

It turns out that the wiring came out through a 'hole' broken in a tile, so I ripped out the whole tile, chopped out a space in the brick and fitted a blank box behind it, then retiled it.

Then, I thought, ( since the power is off, ) I might as well change the ceiling light in the bathroom, since we have the new one downstairs in a cupboard!

The new one, a multispotlight jobby is much bigger and heavier than the old one, so I have to go up into the loft and reinforce the ceiling around the light socket in order to fit the new one!!

Finished that by 14:30, had to clean up and get to open day at the school for 15:00!

Then pick up Mother in Law who is babysitting this evening so I can go and do a coupla cases in a private hospital down the road!

The 'road', being the M25 London Orbital, which had two seperate trucks shed their load this afternoon, tailbacks of around 10 miles!! 21 miles in an hour and a half!

Still, got there, did them, and just got home now!:D

So, that was my day!

How was yours??

:)

*Cardboard Box Burns :D

it was not a good day for trucks

a guy hooking up to a dropped trailer next to me couldn't get under it from the front, so he got the bright idea to come at the pin on an angle. he managed to pick it up a little and then on the next push, tipped it over toward me! it landed on it's side @ 6' away with me staring at it with my mouth open, speechless

how many tools did it take for you to do all that? and did you have them all in one tool box with you at the time?

it's part of a larger survey i am taking ;)

Well with that job you may be able to just barely pass me, as my job is just a grand or so shy of what you have, but about 10% more done too, but being teh HP rig just uploaded a couple of jobs tonight, it may or not be enough to hold on to my spot for a day or so?

But nice hits there, 1200+ not too shabby!!!:)

here's my current one:

How was yours??

hmmm....not quite as eventful as yours but then again, i didn't have to go change any light bulbs today either. :D

actually about 3pm in the afternoon, several of our production servers started to reboot themselves and people started calling in saying they weren't getting any external emails anymore. after about 4 hrs of troubleshooting and subsequent patching and testing to fix the problem we traced the problem to what we think are two machines which seemed to be broadcasting shutdown RPC packets to all the VLANs in the building.

definitely not a good thing and i got home too late to do my night jog and i won't be able to 'make it up' tomorrow since i'll be having dinner with some friends. :(

Well My day was a bit different? I managed to get a invite for Gmail, so i registered for that, now that makes 1350MB of storage for my Email, Hotmail, Yahoo, & Gmail.

I also finally joined my Bros Squad/Clan for Joint Operations, they made me a Full-time Member with out having to go thru the 30 day trainee period, just because of my Bro, so that was cool, & one of the guys over there on their forums was thinking about having Him, Me & one or two others be Mods Only for the Tech section of the forums (as us 4 seem to know more about PC's & stuff than some of the others), so that'd be cool, but he's still gotta talk to a couple of people over there first.

Now its off to do last minute checking on my email & stuff & off to bed to get some sleep before work at 5AM!!!:D

Never did get around to working on the P3... No Big surprise there, LOL!!!
