do you or don't you. that is push it to the limit!! that is.
i have done it a few times just for fun. but, have always went back to the manf. specks.
if you have?? what is your highest you have pushed a chip or system too!!
guess, I'm just to cheap to buy another one if I burn it. and I'm sure if it can be done.
I can do it!!
Well, I'm not much of an overclocker freak, but this is my peak OC'ing for the processors I have/had...
P2 450Mhz = 558Mhz (4.5 X 124) Soltek EV-1
P3 450Mhz = 580Mhz (4.5 X 129) Abit BE6-2
P3 650Mhz = 728Mhz (6.5 X 112) Tyan S1832-DL Dual
P3 800Mhz = 896Mhz (8.0 X 112) Tyan S1832-DL Dual
P3 850Mhz = 935Mhz (8.5 X 110) Abit VP6 Dual
P3 850Mhz = 1062Mhz (8.5 X 125) Abit BX-133
Celeron 700Mhz = 1018Mhz (10.5 X 97) ABIT BE6-2
T-Bird 1Ghz = 1.5Ghz (11.0 X 136) Abit KT7A

p3 650 = 800 be6 (locked multiplier)
p3 800 = 1.0 be6II (locked multiplier)
t-bird 1.4 = 1.533 (unlocked multiplier)
I can't say I run them to hard but I am still learning.

Hmmm, well.
Cyrix PR200@200:D
cel400@540
duron750@1000
These are the only systems I've o/ced that are MINE. I've gotten a mates Cel333@500 on my BF6.

Let's see:
Celeron 300 A @ 470+- (been a while)
P2-450 @ 558
P3-450 @ 600
P3-600 @ 800
All on either an Bit BH-6 or BX-6 board
P3 700/100 @ 1050 (Abit BE6-2)
P3 700/100 @1001 (Abit BE6)
P3 750/100 FCPGA @ 998 (ASUS CUSL2)
Getting ready to torture my first Athlon. :D
While I'm on the subject, wouldn't it make more sense to rate the "quality" of an overclock by expressing it as a percentage of the nominal rated speed of the processor in question, rather than mere MHz or GHz? IMHO, it is a better benchmark?

OH, BTW, these four are still running more or less 24/7 and stable.

I have an Athlon classic 600. I've never tried to overclock it and probably never will.

Well, here goes:
486DX2 33MHz OC'ed to 88MHz (yes, I managed to post w/this one)
Pentium 200MMX @ 300MHz on an Epox MVP3C-m
AMD K62 500 @ 550MHz on the same board
Haven't even attempted to do it on my new Athlon 1.2GHz, afraid I'll fry it! Athlon's run hot 1st of all, 2nd mine runs @ ~120 degrees when running United Devices client software...so I think I'll need more cooling 1st!

Nope, I don't oc.

I'm one of the few that doesn't OC any part of my PC. Faster would of course be nice but I have a decent machine anyway (1.2GHz T-Bird B, GF3). The main reason is stabilty and for me OCing would just complicate the quest for a totally stable machine (when I do get stability problems, I know for a fact it isn't because of OCing). Plus temps are already high enough and I can't be bothered messin about with unlocking CPUs and applying/cleaning Arctic Silver (and I can't afford to risk breaking parts of my PC).

I'm with dudster, I don't OC anything here. and thats one reason why I stay with Intel Iron, I don't have to worry if I'll break the chip installing a hsf.. I only have P-I and P-II mobo'ss and just got a P-II/III mobo and a P-III mobo comming. all slots, works for me..

Well, as soon as I get a different heatsink for my CPU, I'll be OC'ing my T-Bird 1.2GHz...I'll post my heatsink/fan combo purchase as well as the OC, as soon as I get my next paycheck!

Athlon 1.4 GHz to 1.58 GHz
11 x 143 MHz (FSB)
512 MB RAM CAS 2.0 2400
Soyo Dragon motherboard
never tried to go higher though probably would do OK
