Don't ask why...lots of problems with my Thermaltake Damier V5000 case. Let's just say that it was cursed. What went in, never came out....
That's not entirely true, but it may as well be. I sold the Damier and put everything back in my old reliable Chieftech case. Nothing fancy, but solid and well built. I added some extra fans to it and it's good to go.
In the meantime, I thought that my mobo died (it didn't) so I got a new one. I am now running a P4 3.06 HT Northwood (didn't want the hot-running Prescott, even with the extra cache) and it's running comfortably at 3.30. It's on an ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe with 1GB of Kingston PC3200 DDR running dual channel. Sweet.
I also have the ATI 9800 Pro All In Wonder, which I really like - but I am having the TV out woes that befall a new TV out user. So if you have experience with TV out, please see a thread that I am about to post, I'll call it something like "need help with ATI TV-out."
As far as benchmarks, I ran all of the 3D Mark versions. So far, they were all run with 32 bit color, max resolution, and settings more for image quality than speed; because I wanted to see how it did with my "real world" settings. Next I will try it with all of the color and resolution down, and everything set for performance.
Benchmarks @ max resolution and color
3DMark01 - 17,875
3DMark03 - 5,895
3DMark05 - 2,222
05 is a killer! But if I wanted the max performance, I would have gone for the big Nvidia stuff instead of the All In Wonder.
