does any one know how to get rid of that darn personal tool bar? it imported it from moz. and I hate it. and how do I keep the text size the same, everythime FF starts or a new page/tab I have to resize it. I had it set on 150% in IE , the normal size is to small for me to make out even with my glasses on.
Thanks

edit properties, choose tool bars, uncheck which ones you hate.

Anyone managed to work out how to get the Reply Pane here at XPC to show at "normal width" with Firefox 1.0 ?
(I find it difficult typing half-width sentences)

Maybe somebody (read Mntsnow!) should whisper sweet nothings in the ears of somebody from vBulletin ?

Aha ! Bingo ! Check out this (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=23831) (And then let me know if it works !!!)
The MozillaZine forums really are superb support when you have a problem. Terrific !!!

Well it was certainly an improvement for me - now I half three-quarter width in the normal Reply Box...

And just in case Mntsnow reads this, here's the tip for Board Administrators:
To fix it, just go into your vB admin control panel and make sure that the values are the same for Mozilla and IE under Styles -> Modify -> Default -> [fonts/colors/etc..]

Have you read the Tips and Tricks things in Firefox Support (http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/) ?
Have you installed the ChromEdit extension yet ?
Good place to get that (and loads of other things) is from the Extension Mirror (http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?act=idx).

Have you worked out the best figures to use for the XPC boards yet: is it to change the "420 px" or to change the number of row and columns ???

For what it's worth, here are a selection of the Firefox extensions which I have installed from the Extension Mirror (http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?act=idx).
Bandwidth Tester
ChromEdit *
Cute Themes *
Dictionary Search
Ext2ABC
Favicon Picker
FoxyTunes *
HashColouredTabs *
QuickNote
Resize Search Bar *
Smiley Xtra
Tab X *
Tabbrowser Preferences *
Titlebar Tweaks
UnDoCloseTab *
View Cookies
Check them out for yourself - I've asteriscked the "best" ones IMO...
I've also changed the colour of the Active Tab using the thing given in the Tips and Tricks - that was a very good move too.

And for Thunderbird I've got:
ChromeEdit *
FoxyTunes *
TB QuickMove Extension *
(But note that you they are separate different downloads of ChromEdit and FoxyTunes for Thunderbird.)

I have tried changing the 40 to 50 columns and increased the 420px to 620 px
Nothing has made any difference :(
Would it be because I'm using the Beta Theme???

Alrighty then :D
Now it works - Not sure why it wouldn't before  It just started now.
I have increased the 420px to 780px it now fills up the entire screen :D
This is running at 1024x768 res, bigger res's will require bigger increments I'd have thought.
Many thanks TT for a great find in the FF forums, and for sharing the info :D
Not I've got to find a use for all that extra space!!!!!!

SCREEEEEEEAAAAAAAAMMMMMM !!!
Dunno whether to laugh or cry really !!! I spend a good coupla hours sorting out the width problem and then Mike goes and changes the boards !!!
Very nice they are too, but.....Grrrrrrrrrr ! I think we have to put that Firefox setting back to 420px Win2 !!! (For starters....)

 :lol:Don't you sit there laughing Young Man - I've now got the opposite problem ! The Post Reply pane is now TOO BLOODY WIDE !!! The Smilies now go shooting off stage right. It's your turn - you solve that one (deleting the add-in doesn't seem to help...)
Got any useful extensions to recommend btw ? (Anybody)

On second thoughts: I think it's the extra-wide wave smiley which is causing all the problems ! NOW IF ONLY MNTSNOW WOULD REPLACE IT WITH A 'NORMAL' SMILEY THINGS MIGHT BE OK.

I also run at 1024x768 res, and they still shoot of the side of the screen - that is in IE as well as FF...
TT is right (I hate saying that:)), it's the Mexican Wave smillie that is doing it...

which smiley page are you talking about.. In the advanced reply box, and to the right of the text input cell?Hi Brian - the one I get on the right when I select "Quote Reply" and "Post Reply".
I've just made a post with some additional info here:
http://www.xtremepccentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=140271#post140271
And I've tried the tweaks Win2 has suggested in WWW!!!
And to repeat, I have no problem with my current settings (whatever they are) on the TIMO vB boards....
O.K., I'm stumped!! Using Firefox 1.0 the views column was overrun by the poll box, and the rest of the boxes on the right side of the homepage.I downloaded, and installed FF 1.0.1, and now everything is as it should be.I don't know if Mntsnow did some adjusting, or if it was something in 1.0, that was corrected 1.0.1.

Which theme, what resolution desktop, Dan? Works perfectly here (Firefox 1.0), using vbportal demo and 1024 x 768.
Cheers
Mick
Using the demo theme at 800 x 600.Now it's back to doing it again!! Dang, it sure would be nice to figure out what causes it, so I can fix it, once, and for all!!!

OK, posting this from one of my cows at 800 x 600, Firefox 1.0 and winXP and I can't see what you are referring to. Using vbportal demo theme.
Exactly what bits look weird? Looks fine to me...

TT, are you having the same problem???Yes, if I ever figure it out, I will post it here!!
Mick, on the XPC Homepage, the center section," Active Threads In Forums" has several different columns, the last being,"Views".To the right side of the page is several boxes, the first being ,"Polls", and under that one, is "Recent Content" Those 2 boxes cut off the "Views" section of the main center box, and I'm trying to figure out to fix it.FYI, running w2k on this box.

TT, are you having the same problem??? I'm having problems with Firefox and the vB boards here, but not the vB boards at TIMO (which are the same 'version' so far as I can see). I also chanced on a couple of other vB boards out on the wide wicked net which were OK.
My problem is not the same as yours (mine's with Reply Boxes and that blinking police car in the smilies!!!). But it seems there is a vB(a-la-XPC) -Firefox issue. Win2K managed to solve it by tweaking - his tweaks don't work for me at 800x600....

Just checked the cow with 800 x 600 and Firefox 1.0, and the home page looks fine, I can see the views column and it looks normal. So it's not just Firefox, it must be something else as well. Using XP Pro. I'll fire up win2k Pro and see if it does it...
Cheers
Mick
Mick, just went to 1024 x 768 and it doesn't do it, but everything is so small I have a heck of a time seeing it.

I see exactly what your talking about TT. I can disable the icon chooser section, which does fix the width. If you'd like to do without the auto insert for smilies heres a tweak for chromedit:
#smiliebox{display:none ! important;}

#smiliebox{display:none ! important;} LOL. It's not often someone says that. Win2K had the same problem at 1024 res, but was able to fix it.
How do you disable the "icon chooser section" - or is that what you mean by the "auto insert for smilies"?
Thanks for the tweak - but I want the auto insert on other boards...!
Something vaguely related: why does almost every line of code I have put in the chromuser files include "! important" ????

Still no issues for me at any res on Firefox. I must be immune or something. Maybe it's something in the water Down Here? :D

yup, it's just telling the browser to use that code instead of the webpages code. Sort of a priority command .

MickWell I felt I had to reply something to show willing. I toyed with asking you if you had your computer in water, or pointing out that we were talking about Firefox not Waterrat - and they seemed pretty pathetic too.
