The SysMark problem
The Athlon XP 1800+ had one disadvantage going into SysMark 2001 testing: Windows Media Encoder, which is one of the applications used in SysMark 2001's Internet-content-creation suite, will not recognize the Athlon XP 1800+'s SSE instruction set. AMD provides a patch to fix this problem, but it's not endorsed by BAPCo because the patch was not issued by the original software vendor (Microsoft). Therefore, the results using the patch discussed above cannot be included in our official results.
