Yep..It's coming together :)
here is the motherboard and cpu pic (http://www.xtremepccentral.com/gallery//showphoto.php?photo=143) and here is the case pictures (http://www.xtremepccentral.com/gallery//showphoto.php?photo=146)

Basic system specs are
(2) AMD XP1800+ modded into MP (L5 bridge jumper)...Now running MP2000+'s as the 1800's are in a Tyan system now (8-3-02)
(2)ThermoTake Volcano 7's
Gigabyte GA-7DPXDW with On-board Promise Raid 0+1 support!
(2) Crucial 512meg ECC Registered DDR sticks for 1 gig at this time
Ati 64meg DDR 8500DV All-in-Wonder Radeon
(1) Sony CRU-120A DVD+R/RW Burner
(1) Pioneer 106S slot-load DVD-Rom
(1) Maxtor 40 gig 7200rpm 2meg HD (Booting HD)
(2) Western Digital 120 gig 8 meg cache 7200rpm drives in Raid 0 (AV editing)
(2) Western Digital 120 gig 8 meg cache 7200rpm drives in Raid 1 for storage
(1) zip drive for compatablility reasons

Things to come in the next couple of days...
Additional 10/100 nic (so I can multi-home the box, have it just need to install it)
Scsi Raid Card w/drives (to increase my storage capacity and redunancy) (have it just need to install it)
Soundblaster 5.1 sound card (Have it just need to install it)

Yes, a monster indeed! hard to believe that thing is a workstation and not a server!

Well here is my memory benchmark. box stock and no tweaks applied. One thing that I know both NDC and I have noticed is that the MPX chipset isnt the fastest chipset when it comes to memory but this still kicks bootay :)

Cache memory benchmarks taken with only a single proc...Dual Proc benches will be up soon.

 Holy smokes! I can't wait to graduate adn get a decent job so I can build me a decent machine. haha, trying to figure how to upgrade my vid card from 4 mb to 32. LOL

Very evenios and very nice build. :)

so how fast is the dvd burner? and have you burnt anything yet?

Very nice Mntsnow,

two comments: the cache benches look a bit weird. Your CPU's should be up there with the XP1800+, but they seem really low.

The Antec SX1240 looks nice, I was looking to replace my HX08 with it, but it looks a very tight fit between the HD's and CPU0. NDC's looks more spacious, is it the picture or NDC's is wider?

How's the noise on this thing btw?

Ohh, I see, NDC has not installed the HD cage fans on the HDs infront of CPU0 and this leaves a bit of clearence between them. Am I right?

Actually, I do have the HDD fan installed. It's probably because the mainboard he's using has a different layout from the Tyan S2466N-4M mainboard. It could also be possible that The Gigabyte mainboard is wider...

Maybe it was misbenched? I'm using the same processors as Mntsnow's and mine seems to look ok...

Hmmm....I will have to rerun them... all of these benches were done using out of the box defaults on the motherboard.... (maybe from also only having the single proc installed at the time?)

Also here is the size of the Gigabyte board
Board Style ATX Form Factor
Board Size 12" x 10"

And the size of the Tyan board is listed as the same
ATX footprint (12" x 10.3", 304.8mm x 261.62mm)

but the layout of the Tyan board puts the CPU Higher on the board than the Gigabyte board thus why in my pics it shows closer to the HD's But take note the fan that is the closest to the lowest HD is actually a cooling fan that is mounted to the window kit :)

So how's the noise? Cause my box is like a hoover :)

Mntsnow
07-01-2002, 8:35 AM
LOL Actually I am pretty happy with the amount of noise...It's no worse than my scsi based PDC server :)

Mine's very quiet considering all the fans I have on the system. As a matter of fact, I picked up a couple CAK-II 68 (http://www.globalwinusa.com/products/cakii68.html) yesterday which have very quiet fans, yet, the heatsink does a great job compared to the FOP32-1 I had on there previously. Other than the 120mm case-top fan noise, it's pretty quiet. I have the 120mm on a Reostat to pump up the RPM for the hot days though... :)

NMntsnow:
That is just awesome. I'll bet it benches a lot better when you get it tweaked out.

Is that the original color? Or did you paint the case?

I had to replace my Taisols with Volcano's 7+. And what a difference it made. I was running at 74C (yes 74C) on a hot day (full load of course), and now at the lowest rpm (really quite) I can bearly get to 56C!!!!

Only noisy part left now is the two HD coolers at the back. As long as the woman doesn't complain.... lol :)

Mntsnow
07-01-2002, 2:22 PM
Yes Cadd that is the Original case color. It is a Cheiftec Dragon DA01-BLD series case

2 Things: Did you OC your vide card, if so specs?

The link you provided shot me to 3DMarks site where it asked me to login...I did, then received this message: "The project id is not valid - please check the URL."

Tried re-clicking the link and I get the same message...
