Anybody get called by a so called "Your Choice Inc."?
Apparentlly they offer some sort of guaranteed Grants or something for a $257 fee, that is taken out of your Checking account electronically? They "have" a 1-800 number & a fax number, & are supposedly using a St. George Utah address, any of you Utah-ians hear of this lately? anyways, the other day when my mom & brother were in New York tending to family business (grandpa's Funeral) my dad got a call & didn't have the checkbook (joint checking account) on hand but somehow got the account number & gave it to them, now, my mom try's to call them during there so called business hours & can't get to them. She did get a hold of someone, & told them that there was not enough money in the account to cover the so called check, & was told that if there is not enough money in the account that she would be charged what ever fee the bank charges for insufficient funds, by them, so basically che would be getting slapped with one fee from teh bank & another of teh same amount from them. So today she's closing the account down & will have bank monitor the old account number to see what happens.
Dad isn't really in his right mind these days, his mother died a few years ago from a form of alzeihmers, & is starting to show signs of possibly contracting it too, well he's been showing signs for years & years now, but this latest incident has been the last straw. Mom talked to him about it.... FINALLY, about going in to get checked out, many of us & mom have noticed & many of his co-workers too. Well this morning dad started to break down & cry a bit, when Mom confronted him. Part of the reason for him crying was the fact that he kind of knew about his condition for the last year or so, he told my youngest brother he noticed it himself for a while & told him not to say anything to mom, as she's under enough stress with stuff going on in her family at the time. Well now that her great aunt & Mom died in the past few years & her dad, last week, most of that stress is gone. Part of it had to do with her great aunts estate & money (she was basically worth Millions, well over 10 Mil from what I was told by my dad), most of the money disappeared into the pockets of those who took care of her, The "old folks home", but several of her brothers & family were arguing & "fighting" over who gets what, with her one brother who really didn't care caught in the middle with her (neither one really cared about teh money), plus the fact that his own son (from first marriage) killed himself a few years ago, so basically all this is the reason my dad didn't say anything to her.
Anyways, with that stuff being dealt with at the time, back to the so called scam.
Has anyone heard anything about this?
I did do a reverse look up of the Fax # provided & thats how I confirmed the Utah address that was given, but the number was not listed, its a Utah Number but is unlisted, Private or a Cell # with the reverse lookup engine/site I used.
I can't get a definative search with google, as just about every single "Government Grant" Link has the words, "Your Choice" in it, so if it was a scam they were pretty smart in using the vague words, but I did find a link on the Consumer Affairs site, http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/grant_scams_ny.html , that seems to be the same type of "MO" as this call was, similar promises/guarantee's. But the thing that stuck out was the amount being asked for $257, the exact amount that they asked my dad to provide, supposedly they will send out booklets for applying for Government grants & what not, but the scam on this link seems like the same thing as what happened to my parents, but just under a different name or something.
Anyone hear of this lately?
Can anyone help provide any more additional info or maybe do some searching to see what they could come up with?
If need be I can PM you with the provided addy, 1-800 # & fax # given to us (not that they will be of much use in things like this, but still).
TIA for any help you guy's can provide!!!
