Not sure what's going on here, jobs are going missing :(
I looked at FaDSpy this morning, and noticed that it had quite a few jobs coming up for completion sometime in the morning.
Just checked now, and nothing has uploaded, the jobs in the queue have finished. Just then, 2 jobs that were completed uploaded right infront of me, but vanished without trace...
Not listed on the server file, nor the uploaded jobs html page, nor on fadspy
I have ran spybot and adaware, cwshredder, and my virus dbase is bang up to date. All check out ok.
Something very strange is going on here, I couldn't understand why my output was low yesterday, as I had quite a few jobs to upload, and again today. I also now have a 'Surprise' appeared that has stollen 500k of my points. I have never had a machine called Surprise, and I haven't touched anything computerwise today, or for ages, other than a repair function yesterday.
For the time being I have disabled automatic upload until I can see whats going on...
Any ideas anyone???
TIA

You haven't sold or gave a Hard Drive to anybody lately. That's what happen to CC when he sold me one. He lost like 300k I think.

hmm, I built a system for a mate a while back, and stuffed on old drive in there, but that was at least 5-6 weeks ago maybe longer. I did have Think running on it at one point in time, but it was a format and re-install before he got it. Plus, he wasn't interested in running Think anyway, so I can't see that he would have started it up, and then even if he did, the ex Think info would have gone with the format...
I can't think (no pun intended) of anything else similar...

could the clock/date be set wrong? Dunno if that could cause a problem if its set in the past...

That wouldn't generate a username 'Surprise', Danny!

Well you would think so. But I did reformat the one from CC. But it still used his id#.
But then i may have done something wrong doing the reformat..........:bunny:
But you said your mate's not running Think so I don't know. Keep us updated.

Have you visited any (other)team websites as of late
I stoped after some of my Nodes team numbers were changed to another team number

Just as a thought...
I have a few members email addresses (as one does for whatever reason), whats to say I couldn't start a new cruncher with any name and set the email to the other members...
Does think have some kind of other screening setup type function that works via IP or something.
I don't want to start anything, but what if someone started a new cruncher and set the member name as 'Surprise' and set it as my email - chances are it's the same email address I use for my machines.
What would happen then - would it appear as a stray, or what???
I am not sure how the member numbers work anymore, they seem to change all the time and seem harder to track...
I am still looking into this, it has mischief written all over it...
...but then again, could be a simple setup problem.
As for the jobs vanishing, just uploaded one manually, and it took, so the problem there must be with the auto upload feature - had problems with that in the past if the network was having a funny turn.
Will keep ya posted...

The username "suprise" sure makes it suspicious.

What's also scary but tantamount to the power of this team, is that one of the big guys can lose half a mill points and still not change places in the numbers!

It would have had to have been an old installation, Just setting a machine up with your Email Address would have taken all of your points and just changed the name..
To seperate some points from a member you must have a previously installed node, or be issued the same Membernumber (highly unlikely) Even then it would not have this effect..
The effected machine is "3001783"

Could it be a new feature for a new version of THINK?

Well, sure beats me...
I noticed the member number from from the members.csv file and then checked the stats, sure enough it is one of mine. I had a quick look at the numbers on the 14 machines I have running here, and that member number isn't running - At least not here anyway...
To be continued?...

Sure sounds like someone playing "tricks", Mark. Interesting how it was only there for one update, wasn't it? Very suggestive.
Say, you didn't put your email / username combo on any "how-to" webpages, did you?? :o That could explian it. But wouldn't explain why it was fixed so quick, though?
Hope you can work out what it was. Wasn't Pollyanna doing something, was it? ;) Or Bob fiddling with things he should not when he did the stats?
Cheers

I don't know what machine that member number comes from, but it ain't here, so it has to be someone messing around with a machine I built them... The 500k points would not be from a machine that had been on test for a couple of days, so it would have to be an older cruncher that I have sold on, that only leaves about 3 machines that it could be.
It would have to be one of a couple of friends that I have sold machines to, but it does seem strange that it only happened over 1 update, unless that person reads the stats, or visits here.
The prime suspect is not available at the moment, but when he gets in from work, I'll see if he's been up to no good :D

Bob fiddling with things he should not when he did the stats?
If it had shown up on our stats, I could have altered something! However, since WoZ's stats come straight from the FaD csv file as it updates, It weren't me! :p

i was pondering our new member witha 500k "right off the bat" upload with the handle of "suprise" myself (at WOZ`s stats site).went back there awhile later and S. was nowhere to be found.

Well, the plot thickens...
Yesterday, I had a job upload from nowhere! I noticed that my job count was higher than I had recorded, so I looked into it, and that same member number uploaded 1 job for a couple thou points.
I have checked all the nodes here, and that member number is not listed, so it would appear that I have a remote somewhere :D
I have a feeling I know who it is, and we're seeing them later, so I should find out then hopefully :)

You don't sound too scared w2k, and now that I think about it, I guess there's no reason to be. If I'm figuring this correctly, as long as they don't know your password, only the remote's points are affected. So, I guess it would be the same as me learning Blackbird's email and giving him an anonymous "gift" of points.
Am I correct?

^^^^^^^^^^^
hmm, not exactly, they could if they choose could move to another team with 500k of my points!
I have a sneaky suspicion who it is, I have left my recommendations, lets see what happens :D
