Anyone know a forumula for calculating approximately how many points per hour a particular CPU will make? I saw SoopaStar's thread about his Athlon/Duron question, and blackbird answered that the Duron at 800MHz will earn more points per hour than an Athlon at 750MHz, 85 compared to 70. I was just wondering how you calculate that.

FaDSpy ( by Blackbird ) does that automatically, I think based on tables devised by THINK!
I'll go looking for a link,

Think uses a sort of benchmark routine based on Gigaflops per second.
I think that FadSpy's list of ratings is based on BlackBirds observation.
This is the list of ratings as referenced by Blackbird in FadSpy...
Celeron 333MHz=22 333 128K 'Mendocino'
Celeron 700MHz=70 700 128K 'Coppermine-128'

Oh okay. I just thought there was a formula to determine the CPU rating. I guess it's just based on observation.

There is a formula, but they're not going to reveal any secrets. I got shut out pretty quick when I asked Keith.

Take the points from a job and divide it by the number of hours it took to complete it.

That's probably the best method for a particualr CPU under a particular load, as the figures in FADSpy are not set in stone, and can vary a bit (less now, it seems with the newer clients) based on a number of factors, including what other apps are running in the background, how much other work is done on the CPU whilst FAD is running, etc.

If you want a basic formula for AMD K7 based CPU's, try 93 x Speed in Ghz..
For example, and XP at 2.2Ghz will yield an average of 205 points per hour.
For P4's I'm not sure what the multiplier would be (probably 75 or less)
I just took the rating from my Athlon 1Ghz and We already know average points/hour is linear with NT based OS'....

How many points is an AMD 2.5 GHz(actual speed, not Pentium comparison edit: Sorry, this is an accidental lie, actually 1.75 GHz) Sempron. I'm probably going to have one installed in 1-2 weeks. My prsent AMD Athlon is 500MHz and gets 43-46 points.
