I have a Duron 800 rig and an Athlon 750 (slot 1) rig that I can run. Either or, but not both. Which one would be the best rig to add to my herd?

With Athlon 750 you'll receive ~70 points/h, with duron 800 - about ~85. So Duron (Morgan core) is better. You can try to o/c it to 1000-1100 mhz (~100 points/h).

I think I would need one of those golden finger devices to oc the athlon. dont' think i could get teh bus stable enough with just mhz increases (don't know if the mobo even offers it actually.
Duron it is then.

Its been my experince that Durons are not as fast as their athlons counterparts, but that extra 50 mhz could make all the difference, plus the durons tend to not be so finicky about adjustments.

That & if you should ever upgrade the CPU it should be easier to find faster versions of the Duron Socket A's than a faster AThlon Slot A, plus you can find Durons for rock bottom dirt cheap prices if you know where to look.

LOL!!! I read the above post, and lo and behold, Google is advertising Durons, Durons, and more Durons.

Think uses the core fsb speed of the cpu, so although the Durons (or semprons now) have less cache, the core speed is the same as more expensive XP processors, and gets the same ratings.

I wonder how Semproms work with CPU rating vs. their "equals"...

Semprons are slower speed, a 2500 rating for a sempron is 1.75Ghz, Barton is at 1.83Ghz.. The Sempron "rating" is based on celeron's performance.
