Well, the weekend is here (at last) :D
More decorating will no doubt ensue, along with hopefully more copious quantities of Doom3. I have just completed the Communications level and I am now on my way back through the monorail section, I am getting pounded real hard by the rocket firing skeletons (for want of a better description), anyone got any tips on killing them FAST! cheers.

sub-team RRM has gained a cruncher. p3 1000 256mbr. should be a boost. we re hopeful,anyway.

dunno what sort of thing this new machine is crunching,but its almost up to 20% in less than 10 minutes:D :D (just checked,its HIV)

Fixed the mem problem, got rid of samsung, still did the same, flashed the BIOS and problem is gone :D (Now runs @ 3200 dual channel.)

Yo Win2k! Guess you never played the original Doom series...that or it's been a while. Most of the enemies I've encountered so far are from the first 2...they just look a HELL of a lot better.

The baddies you speak of are Revenants. Their missles home in so try to duck around corners if you can. You can also shoot down the missles before they get to ya...hope that helps!

Oh and just wait til you face a Hell Knight...u ain't seen nothin yet. Heh heh... :D

Saved the game with just 10% life and hardly any ammo :rolleyes:

When I first started playing Doom3, I wasn't too impressed, graphically, it is not as good as FarCry IMO, but now I'm getting into it a bit more, the atmosphere is unbelievable, the graphic s are there, you just can't see them as it's so dark. I've taken to playing this with the lights off - It makes it easier to see whats going on :)

I guess it must be 15 years since the original?...

It's been quite a while..

There are a couple "new" demons, but the big flying blobs are still there, tho they brought thier smaller friends, flying heads, imps, But the new ones are very hard, some require quite a pounding.. (read a full belt off the chaingun)

I always keep 2 files in rotation, so if I messed up I can go back to the other save file, I've een doing this since warcraft for just the reason you said :)

Actually it's about 10 years. Well 10 years since Doom II. That was the first one I got hooked on. Got my first computer and that was one of the first games I got. Then I went and got the original Doom.

Also...about the dark. There is a mod out there that allows you to have the flashlight on while you have your shotgun or machinegun up. It's not as good as the flashlight but man it helps! Actually there's tons of mods already...but that's the only one I've checked out.

Yeah, I've got that, but it gives you a false sence of security, and looks too artificial :)

But yeah, it does help :D

There is another one that makes all the grenades act like flares :D

Haven't tried that one yet though.

Might have to give it a go, I'll let you know...

Doom was originally released in 1993 - so 11 years, feels like 15 though :)

Thats teh ducttape mod. But the problem with it is that the firing characterists are changed and its not acurate anymore. Ask Gabe about it. He was P-O'ed over it and removed it.

I just installed a mod called afraid of the dark.

Quite nice :)

every weopen has been modified to be more accurate, more powerfull, and everything gives off light :D

The grenades give of an eary red glow when thrown (which helps), and they pack more of a punch :D

In the original doom, you could type in at any time IDKFA which translates to I Don't Know 'F' All, you got a menu up and one of the options was light, it made you a light source, I'm just waiting for a mod like that to come out...

There's plenty of cheats in Doom3...and I imagine that if you typed in IDKFA you'd probably get a special msg...lol. Same as what you get for trying the old code for God mode...IDDQD or no clipping...IDSPISPOPD.

Don't ask me why I still remember cheat codes to a game that came out over 10 years ago...LOL

Darn Game!

Given up for tonight...

Just finished recycling plant Sector 1. Came out of the airlock, and the other side wouldn't let me in - Lost count how many times I died before I found the steps upto the beam to get in the top, all the while being pounded by the flying head!

It is starting to get a bit samey now though, I start shooting as I walk round every corner, 'cus you know there will something waiting to jump out at ya :)

LOL. Looks like you're learning the lessons that us old timers learned with the first 2 games.

Be afraid. Be VERY afraid.

1) Save often. If you come into a new area, save. Just cleared out a bunch of baddies? Save.

2) If you see a bunch of armor/ammo/weapons just lying out in the open...yer screwed.

3) If you walk into a room, the door slams and locks shut behind you, and the lights go out...yer screwed.
