I have bought & used macfee, norton regular & corp adation, and nothing seems to even come as close as since I turned my systems over to trend pc-cillin 2000 & on-track utitiles for all my systems & ol 2k mail.
they have stoped every virus that has been sent to me, even when they got past the others ect.

you say you use the NCE. have you had it let any virus's past your scanner.
the reason I ask was that a while back. I got the homepage from one of the top mcse mailing list in the world. and it let it send it to like 200 of my outlook contacts. it would have sent it to over 400 +. but, as soon as I saw the hdd light go crazy. I pulled the plug from the outlet!!
and now if I even try to send or find one. trend picks it up. solid as a rock!!
and I have quite a few virus on 1.4 that I have saved to disk. and make it a habit of trying to run them on my system after any software or hardware changes.
might just be that i have it set wrong. and all I ever saw was a mail scan for exchange not ol 2k ???

I've had problems with McAfee in several of my systems: improper shutdowns, computer freezes, error messages, etc. Even with the updates and patches...it just doens't seem to like my system.
I used Norton System Utilities for a few years, I especially liked Norton's Defragmenter and Norton Antivirus. It seemed to be more comprehensive than McAfee.
I had trouble with Trend PC-Cillin too. Kind of funny, that was the software that came on my Mobo. CD! :o
The school has a network of about 500 computers or more, they all use AVG, and it seems to be working great on their system.
I'm checking out the latest version of Norton System Utilities trialware, seeing if it'll be worth purchasing.

Yes I have seen Virus's get pass ALL scanners at some point. A scanner is only as good as it's virus defs. You let them lag and you will get bit. but of course if you dont use common sense and play around with files that you dont know about and they have a brand new viri code you might still get bit. Common sense if the FIRST line of defense, a up-to-the-minute scanner is the 2nd line of defense IMHO :)
