Yahoo Inc. became the latest technology titan to jump into the Internet music market Tuesday with a $160 million deal to buy pioneering song management softwaremaker Musicmatch Inc. for $160 million.
The all-cash deal, expected to close in late October, will give Sunnyvale's Yahoo the online music downloading and subscription services it needs to become a serious contender in the new but growing online music market, which includes big names like Apple, Microsoft and Sony.
