I remember reading somewhere that they are coming out(possibly have come out) with a technology that allows you to get broadband wireless access from more than 10 miles away from the source. I believe it has something to do with that 802*.* standard I've heard about, but never actually seen.

Has anybody heard about this? I'm hoping someone will decide to sell access commercially so I can start up Kazaa again(My father's company was a victim of data theft, so he kicked me off in terms of file-sharing. Strangely, he still runs AOL IM.)

There was an article Mntsnow posted in the News Forum about transmission through metal pipes, still being explored afaik.

You can buy wireless cards for your lappie which are like prepay phone cards, and operate within the same boundaries as cellphones, if your phone gets a signal your laptop will!

I don't have more information about that, but if you get some useful information about this wireless broadband connection then please inform me, thanks in advance.

Big reincarnation.

The technology is Wimax. Available in dallas everywhere. I only get a max of 95 kilobytes per second on it. On the evening time, its worse. Only 10.
