Morning y'all and welcome to yet another great days crunching - 1.5 million points again :D

Will make this short, got problems with Emily atm - screaming the house down :(

Well 1 year on, and what have we learnt - Mindless killing still goes on almost at a daily rate. Minkind is so cruel.

Hopefully we will have put a stop to mindless bloodshed long before we find cures for mankinds biggest killers.

Commiserations to the people of America (and other countries effected) for the aniversary of the World Trade Center attack :(

Congrats to the 'stonerz :D

1st?

Seems like I have some strays? How do I find these? All my boxes seem to be setup the same.

Those are member numbers and the estimated CPU ratings of each one, look to be a bunch of XP 1900 or 2000's (In P4 talk P4 2.4 estimated)

lotsa stoners today, congrats :D

Anthony:
One of your strays is setup for team none with 6,634 points, the other is listed as team 2091, but the email address may be slightly different. You may need to contact Support at Findadrug to get them accumulated.

If they are old installs that have since been overwritten/fdisked and started again, there is no way of updating them yourself.

firstly...a BIG thanks to w2k for his tireless and diligent efforts to bring us the stats each day. despite work/personal schedules or problems, his consistency and his effort is quite an amazing thing to see. i know that i couldn't do it.

we truely have the finest team stats pages and all of that credit goes towards him and his backups. a big thumbs UP to the gang.

secondly...a big round of applause to two of our smaller members, Kenneth_Arnold & Greenmanok for reaching their respective milestones. points are very hard to come by when you don't have a FAD herd the size of Plum's, Lauren's, or Zippy's. both of them should be very proud of what they've acoomplished so far...i hope you two will always stick with this project and that we can look forward to welcoming you to the 500K and 1M club somewhere down the line. :)

onwards and upwards, people...onwards & upwards. :)

on the home front...my efforts to build a few more machines keeps hitting one snag after another.

i had posted previously that the first build (a dual p3 mobo) had a defective cpu2 fan header. well, last night i put in an order w/newegg for some 3-to4 adapters along with a shiny new dvd burner.

my second build seems to have hit a snag also. the HP small form factor that i thought would be an easy swap to change cases turns out to be quite 'impossible'. upon taking apart the machine this afternoon, i discovered that the motherboard screws into a mounting plate and that the p4 mounting bracket screws into this same backplate! this means that i can't move the mobo to the antec case because i have no way of securing the cpu bracket. also the i/o backplate is part of the same mounting bracket, so i don't have an i/o shield that will work in the antec.

to borrow a phrase from Elizabeth Peters' redoubtable heroine Amelia Peabody..."A thousand curses upon the designers at HP". :)

looks like this p4 transplant will have to wait until i buy a new mobo. :(

the only thing left is to try the p3 gigabyte board which i think is defective. so i think i'm due for some more misery & frustration.

Well, I'm kinda' slowwed down at the moment with a bunch of long running jobs!

But don't get too excited Omar/Jack . . . . . they should be dumping big points starting in ~ 2-3 days. :p

I've upped my CPU ratings for the herd by a little under 200 the last couple days, while retiring 4 low/slow boxes. :D

Congrates to the stoned! :bunny:

Hey PJ --

I upgraded my daughters HP PIII to an Athlon w/o any problems! :p (mATX form-factor)

It must be something to do with the "super" P4's!

:o Thanks for the kind words PJ :D

As some of you know, I take my job of the stats very seriously, a little too seriously at times, but this team means a great deal to me, and I know how some of you like your stats fix :) In addition, I can't output as much as Plum Ugly et all, so I like to do my bit in other ways :D

I'm surprised that after over a year of doing the daily stats, I have not once thought "I really can't be bothered", and that I can still think of something to waffle on about :D

Righty then, Emily is now finally asleep  time for me to Foxtrot Oscar to bed myself...

Great Job Team!!!

Some really good uploads all over the board today!!!

Just got done with the one job on the T-Bird on to another, already 22 hits in the first Hour, not bad, onlygot 20 more of these Cancer jobs to go before its doen with everything the queue.

Got paid at both jobs today, that was so nice, One more payment, plus the left over "balloon" payment & the car is mine... FINALLY, got the car ins paid today too, but unfortunately after I got the Ins paid & went & made my car payment, came out of teh bank, only to realize I had left my Keys in the car, first time it ever happened to me ever. Of course I had a second set of keys to get in the car..... BUT :D ..... OF course I had those on the main set too, sitting there in the front seat, I have a 3rd set, but those were at home locked up in the fire safe & I was 10 miles away. So I had to call a locksmith to come open my car & cost me $36 but luckily that should be covered under my Roadside assistance on my Car Ins that I just paid!!:D So hopefully I can get reimbursed for that on monday.

Other than that the Main rig is still on the one job, 68.xx% last I checked.

CPU rating is a bit low as I had just ran some game demos & a couple fo other things, usually hovering around 165 to 171.

Here in OH, you can just call the state highway patrol or police, they'll unlock it for free!

.. No jobs finished on any of 3 of my machines yet this week. Still have 2-3 days until one finishes..

I put linux on my older compaq, and now have to figure out how to share the fad folder so I can view the job info from FadSpy.. It shouldn't be a hard thing to do.. just dont know where to look.

It's running suse 9.1, and has a small gain in cpu rating (maybe 5 points higher) than under XP. Plus it gives me something to play with when i'm bored..

ah well, great job folks! and thanks for your hard work on the stats, oh statsmeister.

Interesting you only get such a small increase with SUSE 9.1. I almost doubled the rating of my quad 200MHz PPro server from win2k! :o Went from a consistent 15 per CPU to a consistent 28! :D What CPU is in the compaq??

Also, the best place to find out how to configure Samba (which is what you need to share your FAD directory onto windows) in SUSE 9.1 is this (http://usalug.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3926) thread at USALUG where another XPC FAD member went for help! :p If you can't work it out from those instructions, post there and they'll help fast!! :D

Cheers

Intel under linux (initially I thought Redhat only) seem to get way too high a rating, mick can you upgrade your suse 9.1 box to the new beta and see what it scores then?

It's gonna upgrade with a few hours I reckon, if not already. Will post when it does and shows a rating. :)

Cheers
Mick

edit: OK, I started it upgrading... wish me luck. :worry:

Ok, I upgraded to 1.25a with no real dramas. CPU rating has yet to change on any of the 4 CPUs (still showing as 28).

I can see the "stalled" bug they are talking about at FAD forums though.

Cheers
