surreal, since you use pegasus mail, how do you turn off the preview look/folder? I just installed it and I don't like the preview thingy.
Thanks

I don't either.. I have version 3.12.. It doesn't have it. I really hate that part of it.
Lemme run down the user group for you.

Oh, I liked this.
But it's not about the preview.. I got distracted.
System-wide protection from e-mail viruses
With all of the new VBS and other e-mail viruses surfacing lately, how can a system administrator protect all of the network PCs? With Pegasus Mail, it's quite easy...

The solution itself is simple enough: Create a VIEWER.PM file in your shared Pegasus Mail program directory on the server and put a statement in there for the .VBS file type and have it activate NOTEPAD so that WSCRIPT.EXE won't be used by default. The format of this file is exactly the same as the format used for the VIEWER.PM file in each individual user's mailbox directory (configurable via the Tools -> Options menu, Viewers tab). The VIEWER.PM file in the shared Pegasus Mail program directory is a system-wide implementation that is used as a secondary addition to the viewers specified in the user's own VIEWER.PM file. As such, it has second priority to the user's VIEWER.PM file.

Below are some VIEWER.PM statements for a few of the more common file types that should never need to be viewed from within Pegasus Mail using the default Windows associations:

1;.VBS;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.VBE;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.WSH;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.WS;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.SHS;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.SHB;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.JS;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.JSE;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.LNK;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.PIF;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.REG;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.SCR;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.URL;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.INF;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE
1;.ASP;.TXT;NOTEPAD.EXE

Note the structure of the file: there are 4 parameters per line and the parameters are separated from each other by a semi-colon. The first parameter currently can only be a "1" or a "2". A "1" means perform a filename extension match, which is what we want here. The second parameter is the file name extension you wish to associate/match and the third parameter is the file name extension you wish to use when Pegasus Mail creates a temporary file for viewing with the external viewer (which is specified as the fourth parameter). Using a .TXT filename extension makes the temporary file harmless, if for some reason the temporary file gets left behind on the hard drive after, for instance, a system lockup or application crash.

hmmmm I could screw things up rolaly trying that :) . my version is v.4.01 0 5Nov. 2001 it's suppose to be the lastest one, I hate the preview window, so I'm staying with outlook express for now. I've tried endora but I can't get it to send mail, it all ways comes up with an error about not being authirize on my mail (verizon) server, I can only retrive mail with it, at least with pegusas I can send mail no problem, besides the flapping horse wings look cool (imo) with I got mail :D
