Looks good, Dustybottoms. But is that CPU temp at idle or under load (like running FAD or something)?

If it's at idle... :o

Nice drives there. And are those Raptors in a RAID config?

Cheers
Mick

Yep, 48 deg for idle CPU is way too hot...
My 3.4GHz P4 temp is around 32 deg when idle. After a good 2 hrs playing Far Cry, temp is around 41 deg.

I was also little suprised at the idle temps. However, when using 100% continuously the max cpu only goes up to 52C.

Might be because I have it shoved in between my printers under my desk.

There is a three inch air-gap at the back and the front is clear.

Oh well, It's been cranking along for 6 months now continuoulsly running.

No raid... And so far no lost data. I mirror my data to the 250gb Maxtor firewire drive about once a week - and to one of the Raptors daily. I only have two drive bays. Just takes a few minutes. I like the security of have my back-up data sitting unplugged and on my desk. :D

The high temp could also be due to the extra 2MB L3. There are a lot more transistors in that CPU than in any other CPU!!!
Dunno - I could be wrong...

Maybe you want to make sure that your HS/fan is properly seated on the CPU...
