In the back woods up here - we have dialup netty - and depending on what is going on with prevailing winds and the like -
we get anywhere from 23.89kbits/s to 40.89kbits/s.
These are two different locations but the same dailin number.
Location 1 - gives a 26.4 to 28.8 connection - but always gives a 23.* speed -
Location 2 - gives 46 to 48 k connection and has speeds not usually below 38.*
This is determined by using the test on the front page of here.
I have traded mail with the copper line guys and they blame my equipment - which is kinda entertaining given that they did not know that THEY tore down thier microwave tower
three years - just so we could use [ updated ] copper wire - 'read this as same stuff - 50 years old'
Anyway - Since I have tracert'ed the sucker a couple times to known ip addys - and keep getting entertaining numbers, the question comes down to this:
Is there anyway way to pin point the problem switch from my end or am I stuck with kibbitzing and a copper line answer of "engineering cannot fix the switch until it fails"
"But we can spend 65 milllion locally to make your cell phone less fuzzy.?"
{wiz reads this over - figures its a rant type thing - but if someone has an idea ?!}
