Going back to DSL for me

Just ordered new DSL service for me and the kids....Qwest now has a 1.5x864 for 28 bucks a month and with Qwest I can get static ip's and run server services again without breaking any TOS that comcast has and actually be paying the same price...While the download speed is 1/2 of what comcast's is the upload speed is 3 times that of comcast cable and as we all know Upload is where it's at when you want to run your own servers!

I will probably keep XPC where it is at but I need and want to run my own domain (mntsnow.com) and email and such as we can run a shared planning calendar in exchange and that will make it easy for Chel, the kids and I to stay on top of everyone's schedules and such :)

Last night I finally got around to starting to install one of my copies of 2003 Small Business Server and I have to say it was the easiest OS install I have done so far....over the next few days I will finish getting it setup and fully configured as it will be about 2 weeks before they get the DSL turned up for me again.

Well DSL seems to be turned up as of tonight (was scheduled for tomorrow the 22nd) but the Router trained up just fine a few minutes ago :)

Just put in my order for my static IP's so over the weekend I can get my own personal web/mp3/email server up and running again :)

I just finished setting up my new webservers based on SME Linux and running on my DSL line :)

I can even monitor how much of my email is SPAM and Virus infected sent to the email addresses for which that server handles ... Check it out www.mntsnow.com and for the monitoring stats www.mntsnow.com/mrtg/

Sorry the MP3 server you have to be authorized to use and is mainly for family use only and so I can have music while at work :)

Yeah with a bit over 10K songs on there I would be abused 24x7x365 and would leave the kids and I without any bandwidth :D
