My wife has a project on a cd that cannot be read. The burner she was using was having problems. She believes she has acessed it before, but none of the cd-rom drives, nor burners here can read the data. Is there a program that can get the data off?
I thought it might be a problem with closing the cd, which had occurred before with this burner. So, I tried burning an additional file to the cd, and then reclosing it (worked before), but the buirner cannot read the data on the two tracks that Nero sees. (It sees 1 track of 646MB data and a 0:00 audio track).
CloneCD does not seem to like the cd. It just sits there waiting. I DLed the free trial version (21 day), but nogo so far.
Cannot get to cd via DOS either...
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Dave

This would be a CD-RW, correct?
Have you given EZ CD Creator a try? I've usually had a few problems with Nero and found EZ CD Creator to work the best for me.
BTW, check to see if there are any major or moderate scratches on the CD which might cause data-access errors, etc.

No scratches on it and it is a CD-R that she has been leaving open and adding onto.

Hi Dave,
I've had intermittent problems seeing / reading CD-Rs. Sometimes it takes re-inserting the CD several times for it to 'catch'. I've also blowed out the inside of the CD drive with some canned air, too. I'm not sure if that helps or not, though.
Hopefully something here will help:

Our esteemed TechIMO.com moderator, KenKun has saved the day!
I did not bother going to the for-pay sites when I searched Google. I am glad you pointed them out. The last one you listed that had the demo got the data. When I went to copy the data, it said "Oh we'll show YOU the data, but for us to give YOU the data, you've got to show US the money" (or something slightly more professional than that. $50 later, we got the data. Thanks! Wendy can invoice the client for the software, so we are only temporarily out of the money.
THANKS!!!!!!

(I like the avatar and sig. "It wasn't me" - Is that a Shaggy reference?)
Have you tried making the CD to an image file format such as ISO and read the image file using ISO Buster?

Yes, I tried that but it gives one of two errors depending ont e program I use. 1- no cd present 2- corrupt data
Extracting the data with the cd-r Diagnostic by ArrowKey has gotten the majority of the data back. alot of the files, especially jpeg files are corrupt, but the freehand and psd's are ok. :)
