View Full Version : [FAD]Stats for Friday 9th April 2004

Morning y'all and welcome to Saturdays stats for Friday :)

Not a bad days output, a little down on our norm, but not too bad.

Some great numbers coming in from all over again, pretty much everyone from Shyguy up pushing out points.

It looks like our daily stats have been getting some praise over on the FaD boards :D Shame it hasn't encouraged anyone to come and join us though, but hopefully once a few people have seen the thread, they might come over here and check us out.

Lets make sure we have a good one today then, just in case anyone wanders over ;)

Milestones:
tmx468 - 8,000,000 points
Heavy_Equipment - 150,000 hits
Dannychuckle - 1,500,000 points
Roadtech21224 - 750,000 points

Congrats to the 'stoners :D

Have a good Easter everyone.
It officially feels like spring to me now that Easter is here.
I may even go for a drive, and see family this weekend.
Just for fun.
I'm only seen at weddings and funerals these days. :o

Not much of a visit family guy here, I try to do it in the off time (aka after work type stuff) in hopes of getting a whole long weekend to sleep in :)

I don't know what you're playing at, but a gentleman would have pulled gracefully in to the side and waved me bye.

It's not fair, looks like you've got more power than I. (Ahem !!!)

Seems to me that a couple of those machines are overdue for some heavy maintenance...and when did you last have a look at your electricity bill ??? (That'll get 'im reeling. That was a real killer punch that one !!!)

As much as I'd like to put my feet up for an extra day, I think I'd better go see my grand-parents at the very least, I hear their health is failing quickly. I would feel terribly guilty if I didn't see them for awhile and something happened.

Aside from that, visiting family is a slow painful torture. :D

My problem stems from having too much family, I go to my dads today, was at mom's yesterday and go to the out-laws sunday, so much for a long weekend, I think I want a regular weekend...

Great job everyone...congratz to the stoners! :D

My output is gonna be down slightly during the weekends as I won't be in at work to get the completed jobs and upload them. On the upside though...that means I should have a nice dump to do on Monday morning to start off the week! :D

Syn. I dumped one, got a lot of points for it but not as much as I thought, last night had to shut one system down, too loud, had a headache & trying to get over this nasty sinus cold Ive had for the last few days, kept keeping me a wake, so I shut it down last night, but left the other going, my main rig, just throttled the CPU fan down & was ok, might be a bit before I catch up to you!!!

Get better soon Shyguy... :D

As far as being noisy goes...I've definitely gotten used the constant hum of 4 machines crunching away in my bedroom. And in rare situation that all the machines are off at the same time it sounds eerily quiet. lol. :D

Now Now TT, when's the last time you looked at yours? if it isn't high enough then you have to add more PC's :p Hey ! You've been talking to Magnus. Yesterday I inherited an old switch from his company. Something called a CentreCom 3024SL with 24 little holes in it. I can also see a socket which looks as though I should bung my television aerial into it, but regrettably Magnus doesn't know how to connect the thing up, and/or to what, either.

But it's a switch, and a big one, and I guess that apart from Plum and me, there ain't many other guys on this team who've can say they've got one of them !!! How about you Snowman ??? You got one ?

I've got two :p

..and a router :)

As for the noise, try 10 computers running (all with at least 3 case fans) in a small room with an air con unit going, unbelievably, I can still sleep in here, and often do ;)

bring forth the post-its :D

I have an 8 port Dlink switch to a linksys 4 port router (switch) so that's 10 ports of joy :)

By the way, the BNC (ariel type connection) is for old 10base2 wiring (token ring I believe) and best not to use that, if your router is not autosensing and the switch isn't either then you'll have to use a cross-over cable to connect the 2... (just plug them into the little hole things :)

So take the electric bill out of the equation...start adding remotes! Friends! Family! Co-Workers! :D

The electric bill doesn't have anything to do with it.

I have just spent over the past 6 months, approximately $15,000 in moving and other expenses. If it weren't for the move... you betcha - I'd have more things. And now? I ust broke my glasses two nights ago. I'm going to have to spend $225 to get new ones (since these were special made.

My bad. I mistook you saying losing your laptop for crunching to mean that you opted to not have it running 24/7 because it was making the bills too much...

At any rate...remotes are still a good way to boost yer output when adding your own machines isn't an option. :D

Remotes ! Romans ! Countrymen !

Lend me your machines !!! (JC - Julius Caesar, that is - winces in his grave.)

The problem with friends, family and co-workers Gouki is that they tend to oblige for a while ("anything to shut the ole b*gger up"), but then lose enthusiasm. Or, to salute the immortal Whir: is it just me ?

Gouki

Well if it's set up correctly it doesn't interfere with their daily use of the machine and then they promptly forget it's even there! All the while it happily crunches molecules for FaD! :D

I've got a big switch TOO. I also have (3) 8 port switches and a 5 port switch. (all my switches are 10/100 Autosense, Autoswitch, Auto Full-Duplex ,Auto MDI/MDX on all ports :p Means I don't care about crossovers or straight cables anymore) I also have the obligatory ethernet Router (8 port hub) and the firewall (4 port hub). All the network equipment is on UPS for non-stop crunching!

Nearly all of my computers run dual NIC teams for load balancing and fault tolerance! :p

Well, I don't have much to report for network switch front, as I don't have much . . . . . but . . . . .

2Wire HomePortal into a Linksys 8 port switch.

5 port Linksys switch plugged into the 8 port switch.

12 port Lattisnet Hub plugged into the 5 port switch.

5 port Linksys Hub plugged into the 12 port hub.

:p

Not much, but it all works together nicely. :D
