This Q's for you....;)

This for XP..:)

Do you know of any junk or hidden folders that can be cleaned out to get rid of all the unneeded stuff that gets put on your computer?

I think it's time for spring cleaning...:D

TIA

Well, for starters, you can delete all the previous System Restore files if your system is running smoothly and keep just the current system restore file.

You'll also want to delete all the temporary files located in the Windows\Temp directory as well as the Temp folder in Documents and Settings.

You can also delete files in the dllcache folder to reclaim disk space, but that wouldn't be ideal since that's where some vital system files are kept incase a certain file gets corrupted.

If you're using ICQ. you may want to look at this thread (http://www.xtremepccentral.com/vbforums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=905).

XP - Reclaim disk space by deleting previous Restore Points and keeping just the most recent System Restore Point...

1. Right click on drive letter you want to remove the previous Restore Points by going to My Computer and selecting Properties.

2. Press the Disk Cleanup button and then click on the More Options tab.

3. Press the Clean up.. button under System Restore and you will get a window asking you if you're sure you want to delete all but the most recent restore point. Press YES.

4. Click on the OK, button of the Disk Cleanup window and you will get a window asking you if you want to perform these actions. Just press YES.

It had never occured to me to get rid of outdated system restore files--what great advice! Of course it makes sense (duh!) since I would either only be using the latest one or creating a new one before messing around with stuff. Thanks!
