I am wondering why I am unable to do a scan disk with both options checked. Keeps telling me that Disk check could not be performed because exclusive access to the drive could not be obtained. then askes me if i want to reschudule it upon reboot.

but if i leave both options unchecked it does a quick check but I wnat to do a deep scan of the disk.

Any Idea why it won't allow me to check this. Yes im in adminstrator priveledge setting to do this.

Oh ya, I have attached pic to show you what I am talking about.

TIA

Have you considered using a Win98 Startup floppy and running Scandisk from the diagnostic RAM drive it creates? (For your Fat32 drives/partitions). HTH

What you're seeing is quite normal under Windows 2000 as well as WIndows XP. When you perform a scandisk without the options checked, you're doing a read-only check not a read-write disk check. Windows is not letting you access files that are being used by the OS. You will get the same message when you try to run scandisk with both options checked on any partitions where Windows or Windows application(s) files are being used. When Windows asks you if you would like to schedule the disk check on reboot, just answer YES and reboot the system and scandisk will run in DOS mode...
