Wow! Got a burner for each system, huh? I'm still using a Plextor 8432. Waiting for this one to burn out so I can pick up a new one... :D

well, i cheated!!! I used the excuse that the other box need a burner so that i could upgrade....HAHAHA

Rick

the 16x burns full cd in about 5 min 20 sec..
the 40 burns full cd in about 3 min 20 sec...

not much differance between 12X and 16X

the 40 burns full cd in about 3 min 20 sec...

Seeing the time in front of my face in bold text shows me not much of a difference time wise. 2:00 minutes isn't much at all... However, percentage wise, that's a big difference! :)

I agree on that. the only reason that i went with the 40 was that the other box needed a burner and I wanted to stay with plextor so I had a choice between a 24 and a 40. thought 40 would be alot faster but the 40 is only about 20 seconds faster. If I was doing a lot of burning then yes there would be a huge differance but since i burn once in a while, the differance is not big. All in all I am still pleased with the whole plextor lineup.

Yeah, I know what you mean... Plextor is one of the top manufacturers of CD Burners. I think they gave IDE interface burners a new reputation in reliability. No need to buy SCSI CDRW drives like you once had to for reliability. As a matter of fact, I believe Plextor has stopped the SCSI line of CDRW drives if I remember correctly...

Have made some changes:
On my xp-2000:

It now has 2-120 gig WD and a 40 gig WD in it.
Alos a Promise IDE card
Also running the Logitech MX-700 cordless mouse.

The PIII-1Gig now has Windows 2000 pro on it And a Logitech MX-700 cordless mouse.

The server is currently off-line..

I have just ordered the XP-3000 Barton w/ 1 gig Kingston Hyper X pc3200 ram and Volcano 11+. Also the ASUS a7n8x Deluxe M-board. I also have a Antec 550 Power suppy for it.

Hopefully the monster will ROCK.
