I have 4 computers running XP PRo; with a SpeedStream 2604 Router; with Adlephia PowerLink Cable connection. On one of the computers, I've set up an FTP Server using BulletProof FTP Server.
First let me say that I have read (I think) just about everything written on setting up a FTP Server and I'm working with a neighbor that is a Tech Specialist for a major firm. Here's the problem. BulletProof FTP Server has a web page that you can use to test your server. When I use this test site, using my neighbors UserName and his Password that I enabled for him, it works perfectly but when my neighbor tries to log on from his computer, it doesn't work. I can PM you a Temporary Name and password to test the site if you think that would help.

Thanks Guys
Kabco

PS: My neighbor is trying to log on using IE Explore using an "ftp://" syntax??????
We haven't tried it with an FTP Client Program yet.

First off...Welcome to XPC! :D

I would definitely recommend using an actual ftp client as opposed to using an Internet Browser. Flash FXP is what I use, I love it. Bulletproof also has an ftp client that's really good...as is Cute FTP.

Also, when your friend tries to connect from his home, does he get any kind of error messages? Does it time out? Or is he getting connection refused?

Kabbarnes, did you ever get this problem solved? No one seems to post much in this forum.
