doesn't these drives slow the system down ?

No, they wouldn't since they are on a mobile rack and have them connected to IDE-3 which I use as a dedicated channel just for the mobile rack. The reason I have it set up this way is so that it wouldn't matter what mode I have the mobile hard disk set to, slave or master. And also so that it wouldn't slow down my other IDE interface hard disk drives. :)

WOW! That little HDD is ATA-33 capable, huh? I have an old Samsung 378MB HDD that runs on PIO mode... this clunker serves its purpose quite well though. :)
