I decided to try the download of EarthViewer (located on the XPC front page news section) and it's just awesome!

I've spent the last two hours viewing different cities and countries and found a very close detail of my apt. building, Mntsnow's house and there's a pretty incredible shot of the WTC area, with even the smoke emanating from the destruction visible. NDC's house is next ;)

Some maps don't zoom close as clearly as others. Perhaps because it's a trial version. The tilt is not 3D as to terrain, but shows Earth curvature pretty well.

Accordingly to the Comments section, this app was updated last October, so while not current, is pretty recent.

Thanks jadison and Mntsnow for the the info / links to this fascinating app. :)

No problem. :) I was lucky to come across that site, I was just doing my daily news scouring and found that article which caught my eye...one of these days I'll try the trial version. But no way am I going to shell out $550 for the full version...I don't care who's house I can see in whatever country. That's a little over my budget. :p

If any of you visitors or members would like to know more about what Socal and I are talking about, just visit our homepage here (http://www.xtremepccentral.com/) and look for the news article titled: "View the World From Up in Space". Links to the site which reviewed it, and the download of the trial can be found there.

it didn't have a pic of Stockholm :(

Maybe the full version does?

The trial version only shows detailed maps of the USA, other countries get far less "ZOOM" factor than we do. Sorry. :(
