i wanna see avp and The passion. Why is is so controversial? Its the last 12 hours of Jesus Christ's life according to catholic teachings. That means that any other religion is in a sense being "dissed" ..that is why it is controversial my dear friend Xeroid

If thats the case Edsel then i cant wait to see it, it should be a facinating film.

Does any one know of a web site that reviews all the latest American film releases, or a web site that tells you in advance what films are being released.

be careful though that some of the reviews are by users..do not be influenced to what everyone says

If you look for reviews, look at several sources before you conclude. One reviewer might have been totally against the movie to start with, which taints it. Another reviewer might be having a bad day, or yet another might just look for flaws without taking the movie into consideration. I've seen a few movies where people rated it poorly and when I went to see it, I was disappointed - in the reviewers. I rather enjoyed the movies I saw.

I thought themovie The Passion was in accordance with the King James version, not necessarily the Catholic New American version.

I just read up on it. Both Billy Graham and the Pope had nothing bad to say about it.

Billy Graham did say good things about it. So did the Jewish actor who played Mary, the mother of Jesus.

In my take...there is no partiality of religion in the movie, and Priests and Preachers from all different denominations have already seen the movie and had nothing bad to say about it.

The simple fact that it only portrays the last 24 hours of Jesus Christ's life before Crucification, means it is universally accepted by all Christian denominations. (There's that "universal" word again...which is english for the word "catholic", which is the meaning of the term "Catholic Church").

It is, for the most part, but it does use two Catholic references in its writing. These are the "Diaries of St. Anne" Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824) and Mary of Agreda's "The City of God". I do not know much about these books except that Emmerich was a German nun who supposedly had anti-Semitic views, nor do I know how much they are referenced in the movie. If protestant ministers speak so highly of it after seeing it, then it can not have too much of the controversial (to protestants) Catholic doctrine in it.

Hmmm.... I'm Catholic and I have never heard of these two references. I wonder why?

Then again...I would expect no less, since those who denounced Jesus were typically Jewish, and any Catholic nun would love Jesus.

Yeah, good point, BBA. I had never heard of either until this movie. I only say they are Catholic writings because that is what I have read in a couple of articles. I do not know the validity of the reports.

of course it goes with most christian beliefs ..catholic being part of christianity..but it does have issues with the Islam or Jewish community

BBA

No, it doesnt necessarily. They all witnessed the crucifiction of Jesus. Thats what this movie is about.

The other religious sects simply contest the part about him being the Son of God, not the part about the crucification.

Concurrently, all of the above religions worship the same God, the God of Abraham. (Yes, even Muslims, and even Jews).

The Jews deny that Jesus is the Son of God, and the Muslims think Allah was the last true prophet of God (many years after the presence of Jesus)

lol obviously..but ur not understanding my point>>

those other religions have an issue with the film because of the beliefs it represents and the way it shows them as well (in the case of the Jews)

BBA

I understand the point...but it wont make a difference because today is so anti-religious in the media, that the film will gather nothing but discredit. I dont even think the Jewish history will be a media concern and we all know...the media seems to drive popular conviction more than morals do.

lol...my point is religious ppl will be at an outrage..they already are. Mel Gibson was on an interview said this next week is even worse hes gotta show some other folks the preview hehe. But i dun mind i think its a great movie to watch, it will prove to be interesting

Miracle rocked! They did a great job! I think there will be many comparisons between Rudy, The Natural and Miracle in the coming months.
