Every since Steve Gibson has been running his mouth about security....I noticed a few problems with him...he's a stupid idiot who knows just enough to cause mass hysteria...in short, he knows just enough to be dangerous.

I recommend NOT visiting his site...and here are some pretty convinving arguments that back up my viewpoint:

BTW: The ATT sight is pretty good at dispelling internet myths, so go here and learn about it:

Hehe...well then you most certainly have checked out attrition.org! :) they agree on the same things, more or less

I don't know...I used to be an internet n00b a long time ago but through safe practices and pure common sense I've eluded most of the "common" threats. I do agree that he is indeed "self-proclaimed", but it would take more research on my part to really develop a true opinion of the man and his practices. I don't use his site or any of it's software currently. I used to use Opt-Out quite awhile ago, and used ShieldsUp! when that software was first made public among other port scanners and firewall testers just to test my configuration. I wanted to know what it did, how it worked, and what results it provided compared to the results provided by other utilities found on the internet.

I just do a lot of reading, testing, and use common sense (along with a few "utilities") to keep my computer in a comfortably safe state on the internet. :)

I don't know, but I read something once that made so much sense to me. I took it as my gospel.. That being if you run a firewall thats software don't go freaking out every time something looking for a trojan comes by.. That is just contirbutes to the hysteria that's out there today.. I agree about that..
I think folx can get a little too whacked out about stuff..

Course I can say that being behind 6 routers and 3 software firewalls on dialup AOL that goes to my neighbors house through their computers and over to mine.. :p

I'll see any responses in about a week :D

oops why did i say any of that? oh, the mother ship is coming..

Caching/proxy/NAT
If your Internet Service Provider uses caching or proxy servers to speed access, then you may not need to adjust the Receive Window.
If you are sharing your Internet connection with NAT, then you need to adjust the Receive Window on all computers accessing the Internet through NAT; with proxy, only the proxy server needs the adjustment. (Microsoft's Internet Connection Sharing is based on NAT.)

a little help here.. now if you don't really care about how fast the other machines are, do you need to do this??
