Idea/ Is it possible?

I have no experience in flash, just an idea I wanted developed so I thought I would ask to see if people thought it was possible before seeking a coder.

I would like a program/website that allows people to design their next tattoo.
Basically a drawing program (online) that would allow users to select from an array of templates and edit them with text/lines/shading and add as much functionality as possible with possibly the ability to start with their own image.

It would be cool if this could be done on a 3d model, ie the user selects male/female and body part which is then zoomed in on to draw the tattoo so that a user may get an actual feel of how it may look.

I dont know the implications/costs of such a project however I would appreciate any advice on whether this is achievable and any pro's cons to my idea.

The drawing wouldn't be that hard to make, but the whole 3d model would.

Still i don't know anything about flash, but the drawing program shouldn't be to hard.

Possible? Yes - Anything is possible
Probable? Yes
Con - would require users to have a set minimum system requirements for the 3D model. Possibly in the graphics card or memory.
Con - would require a higher bandwidth for the 3D models unless they are java or non-editable.
Pro - if you can patent this idea... :)
Pro - software is available to use, not sure which would suit you best because I don't know what is out there.

Possibly using a 3D model is a bridge/expense too far and maybe an online drawing tool with extremely good functionality would be better to focus on.

The idea of the 3d model would give it a huge edge and more interesting than a blank page but as you said the requirements/bandwidth may make this aspect a non-starter.

i recommend making a a couple of simple manakin like models, and then making it so you could apply the picture to a certain part of the body. So once they had made it they could hit a certain button and it would render it on the 3d model they had selected, in the spot they had selected.

Or..... it would allow them to print it out and try to apply it to themselves. :D

Personalized personal tattoos. Awesome idea, almost as good as the Future-Tech in Popular Mechanics. They came up with the idea of implanting yourself with a special material that could display any picture you wanted. You could have a naked girl on your arm at a party, and then no tattoo at all when you got home.
